1. Call for Application
The General Public is hereby informed that the Ministry of Higher Education of Egypt is offering scholarships under the initiative “EGY-AID” and the Al-Azhar Al-Sharif scholarships for suitable Tanzanian candidates to apply for undergraduate and postgraduate studies for the academic year 2025/2026 through its portal on the following link: https://admission.study-in-egypt.gov.eg
- 2. General Requirements
- 1. To be eligible for admission, the following general conditions apply to all applicants:
(i) Must be a citizen of his/her respective country.
(ii) Should be a Muslim.
(iii) Should not be enrolled in another scholarship in or outside Egypt.
(iv) Should be physically fit and free from contagious diseases according to an approved medical certificate, and is physically and psychologically healthy (without any disability).
- 2. All documents must be completed, officially approved, and bear both the Republic's and Embassy's seals prior to submission. Documents must be in Arabic, English, or French, or accompanied by a certified translation into one of these languages.
- 3. The applicant's name, as presented on all submitted documents, must be identical for verification purposes.
NB: (i) Al-Azhar grant-funded studies are conducted in Arabic. Students opting for English or French instruction shall bear all supplementary costs.
(ii) The student shall be liable for all costs incurred due to travel date changes or cancellations. In the event of scholarship termination, the student is responsible for the return travel fare.
- 3. List of required documents
- Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation and the Egyptian Embassy.
- Advance Certificate Secondary Education or its equivalent certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation and approved by the Egyptian Embassy.
- Original university certificate(s) and transcript(s) for postgraduate applicants, certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation and approved by the Egyptian Embassy.
- Birth certificate certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation and approved by the Egyptian Embassy.
- A copy of a valid passport.
- 6 recent personal passport size photos with the applicant's name written on the back.
- A medical certificate approved by the Ministry of Health that states that the candidate is free of any infectious disease (HIV, Hepatitis and tuberculosis) and this certificate is certified by the Egyptian Embassy.
- A statement that the high school diploma obtained by the applicant qualifies him to join the university in the country from which obtained the certificate and certified by the Egyptian Embassy.
NB: All documents must be submitted in Arabic.
- 4. Scholarship coverage
This scholarship will cover the following expenses:
- Tuition fees;
- Monthly stipend for all scholarship beneficiaries, with additional allowance for books and thesis printing (for Master’s and PhD students);
- Return ticket upon successful completion of studies; and
- Medical treatment at university and government hospitals.

NB: Candidates are advised that the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania will not extend financial assistance, in the form of loans or grants, for this scholarship, and must therefore secure independent funding.
